A SERIAL: CHINA 1987
The Installments
In 1987, I traveled to China with a group of people. While there I took more than 3500 photographs and recorded around 30 hours of sound. Over the years I would randomly work with one photograph or a few of them. I was just trying things out, entering a photograph, pulling it apart, or making GIFs. I knew I would make something out of this material, but it was unfocused and decades had passed. In 2019, I was getting antsy about what and if this project would become. At that point I decided to produce this project in chronological serial form and sent them out one at a time as they were completed.
I have no idea how many installments there will be in the completed work. This work is document, memory, dream, and fantasy. I have not used any additional images or sound outside of the material I produced on this trip in 1987.
